Scholastica wraps up the year with one of the most thrilling experiences ever; the Scholastica Soundwave. The concert was hosted by a group of very young, enthusiastic teenagers of Scholastica’s Senior Campus, Mirpur.
The event’s organizer, Sarika Resh Rahman stated, “Due to disciplinary issues, concerts are unfortunately discontinued in places. I am very proud to say that Scholastica Soundwave carried on in a very disciplined manner, with tight security and was even concluded in time.”
Another organizer, Rafat Fahmid stated, “A Scholastican dream came true. It was a pleasure watching the biggest names of the Bangladeshi Music Industry perform at our campus.”
Scholastica Soundwave, a charity-based concert and first of its name at last made its debut on the 18th of December with the biggest bands of Bangladesh making a spectacle of a show throughout the day.
The lineup of the concert consisted of: B.A.E, Odd Signature, AvoidRafa, Arbovirus and none other than Shironamhin!!
The event started off with none other than the mighty AvoidRafa’s phenomenal performance!! A crowd waiting to get stunned certainly did not feel disappointed as the energetic performance awed the audience to the point where nobody was able to stay still when this band was on stage. The band’s songs “Cholo Arekbar Uri” and “Anemone 2” got the crowd jumping out of joy and dancing their hearts out. They ended their performance with their most famous song “Ami Akash Pathabo”, a song that certainly left a mark on every person present as everyone was star-struck yet unconvinced to see the band end its performance on this note.
The second act of the day was performed by Scholastica’s very own home-band, B.A.E.
A group of youngsters was very much inspired by Bangladeshi Band Music and decided to form their own band at the peak of their teenage years. The lead guitarist of the band, Dewan Ahanaf said, “It was really a great experience to be performing in our very own school as a homeband. The enormous amount of support and love we received from our fellow peers was really heartwarming. We hope to perform more in such spectacular events and make a name for ourselves. We hope everyone stays on this journey with us and we are hoping to release our debut album soon. We loved playing with our special ones.” Their groovy performance consisted of the famous song, “Shei Tumi” as a tribute to Ayub Bacchu. The members of the band want to carry the legacy of the infamous band, Cryptic Fate. The members of Cryptic Fate are Ex-Scholasticans and also a home band of the campus.
The band to march up the stage next was Odd Signature, this band deserved a standing ovation from the whole crowd itself, due to the fact that they not only stole our hearts with their songs but for changing the tide of the whole event, amidst this chaos of heavy metal, Odd Signature brought forward a different twist to the show spicing up the concert, performing songs such as “Ghum” and “Prostab”. People were left awe-struck just before the end of these masterpieces. However, the presentation of these songs was not the end of their conquest as they continue to surprise the home crowd by singing an unreleased song “Jogot Moncho” showing their love towards the crowd for being such a good sport. They had certainly touched many of our hearts as they bid us bye after their banger performance of “Amar Dehokhan”.Their performance will always be remembered as they depart after putting everyone through a rollercoaster of emotions.
The event continued its beat with a spectacular showcase of heavy metal from the cannons of rock music, Arbovirus.The band made its return in recent days performing one of their very first shows for the Scholasticans and as hosts, the school felt honored to rekindle the spark of this amazing band. The organizers were beyond happy to be able to invite Arbovirus to perform on their campus. Their performance gave everyone literal chills as the heavy metal played out through their songs “Shurjo” and “Bhenge Felo” gave goosebumps to everyone present. Arbovirus’s performance had mesmerized everyone in the building, it was always told that this band created a different dominion every time they performed. It was sad to see them depart yet they leave the stage performing their last banger for the evening, Arbovirus ends their magical performance by singing one of their most famous song “School” this performance was rated as one of the best ever in any Scholastican event as the mixture of nostalgia that hit the students while making them jump in joy was extravagant. Arbovirus’s performance will forever be remembered in every event while they hail as one of the best bands to ever perform for Scholastica.
It is always said that the best is kept for the last and it wouldn’t have been possible to end the show without bringing in one of the most legendary bands in Bangladesh, so to take it up a notch Scholastica we had to bring in the legendary, Shironamhin. People in the crowd were waiting tirelessly for hours just to see a glimpse of their performance. From the start of their very first song to the last everyone in the audience couldn’t stay still while this band continued its march. Shironamhin started their performance by performing “Jadukor”. The crowd had gotten out of control, in awe by the band’s performance and just when it seemed that all had ended the band surprised the Scholasicans performing one of their most hit songs “Ei Obelay” a song that made a special place in the hearts of every student present in that crowd forcing them to sing along as they are hit by a rollercoaster of emotions unveiled by the band. The leader and founder member of the band, Ziaur Rahman said, “It’s very impressive to see these youngsters pull off such an amazing event in their school years. Watching their home band share the stage with such legendary bands of Bangladesh made me realize that Bangladeshi Band Music is taking its place in the youngsters’ hearts.” Yet to mark the true end of this wondrous event the band performed its most cherished song “Abar Hashimukh” a song that simply left the crowd star-struck as they witnessed one of the best performances of their life. Kazy Shafin Ahmad, the drummer of Shironamhin said, “It was a really great experience to perform in a concert like Soundwave arranged by Scholastica. The best part was the energetic atmosphere and the vibes which made me feel really really good. The crowd was singing almost every song we played that evening which was really amazing. They really know how to enjoy a concert. The arrangement was perfect. The stage, sound, lights and green room management was fabulous. Looking forward to performing in a concert like this again with my band.” Yet to mark the true end of this wondrous event the band performed its most cherished song “Abar Hashimukh” a song that simply left the crowd star-struck as they witnessed one of the best performances of their life. The wait for this band has always been worthwhile and they never forget to leave a mark in the hearts of every individual sending them home with smiling faces just like the name of their song.
An event solely based on the motive to help the community had certainly achieved the main purpose of their show, Scholastica Soundwave was a charity-based concert hosted to provide aid to financially deprived people who are impotent to purchase proper winter attire and even in need of proper shelter from the cruel winter season bestowed on them. We had looked forward to being able to assist them with the amount we collect from the Scholastica Soundwave and we can proudly state that our goal has been met. The money collected and all the profits made from this concert are being donated to the Ahsania Mission.
As students of an all-English-medium school, students often find themselves detached from their own language and culture. Bangla music is frequently a pathway to connect the students back to their roots in the culture and heritage of their own country. This event has definitely helped the students feel more in touch with their origin as we could see the infamous bands of Bangladeshi Band Music portraying their most beautiful and eloquent Bengali lyrics through their immortal songs.
