Twelve microentrepreneurs and two institutions got the 12th Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA), sponsored by the Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citigroup, at a special ceremony Saturday.
Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal attended the programme as chief guest while M A Mannan, MP, as special guest.
Micro entrepreneurs from different districts, representatives from microfinance institutions, important officials from the ministries and the central bank, diplomats, dignitaries and members from the advisory council and screening committee of the 12th Citi Micro-entrepreneurship Awards attended the programme.
The objective of the award is to highlight the achievements of some of the most innovative microentrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
The 12th CMA awardees
‘Best Microentrepreneur of the Year’: Md. Zillur Rahman Chowdhury from Shaluka, Naogaon, Md. Saiduzzaman Sarkar from Sherpur, Bogra and Md. Azijul Hoque Sikder from Taltali , Barguna.
‘Best Women Microentrepreneur of the Year’: Ms. Ruma Akter from Bajrayogini, Munshiganj, Ms. Fazilatun Nessa from Mohammadpur, Dhaka and Ms. Rubama Sharmin from Dampara, Chittaging.
‘Best Youth Microentrepreneur of the Year’: Mr. Md. Rubel Dewan from Ashulia, Savar, Mst. Rahima Khatun (Mukta) from Gobindaganj, Gaibandha and Md. Taifur Rahman Raju from Bera, Pabna.
‘Best Microentrepreneur of the Year in Agriculture’: Mr. Saima Khatun from Shyamnagar, Satkhira, Md. Altaf Hossain from Khansama, Dinajpur and Md. Nurul Amin Sardar from Zajira, Shariatpur.
